TILLEY SOAPS AUSTRALIA
BATH & BODY PRODUCT REVIEW
I absolutely love trying out new bath and body products. There’s something so satisfying about the process of it; from smelling the new scents, to marvelling over the packaging, and reaping the reward of finding a product that’s perfect for you. My favourite part about finding a product you love, is being downright excited to put it on every morning/night, or wanting to take a bath just to use it. You get to feel pampered every single time you use it, just because it feels a new, luxurious treat.
Lately, I’ve found myself wanting to explore and try more Australian brands. Don’t get me wrong, I love trying products from all over – but I like the idea of supporting smaller, lesser known companies from my home country, rather than visiting yet another Lush store or major corporation. I also feel like sometimes, with larger companies, you’re paying more for their brand name than the actual product; in reality, when I pay more on the pricey side for something, I expect the product itself to live up to the price tag. It only seems fair, right?
Tilley Soaps Australia were kind enough to send me a package full of goodies from their store. I had been lusting over their bath bombs (which all sound like they smell incredible) so you can imagine my excitement when the package arrived, pretty and white with a lovely purple bow tied around it.
Before I get into the contents of the parcel (and believe me, I’m as eager for this as you!) I thought I’d give you a little background about Tilley Soaps Australia. I enjoy reading about companies who’s products I use and love, and I know that some of you will enjoy reading it as well. Tilley Soaps Australia, formerly known as Tilley Soaps, was founded all the way back in 1865 – meaning they’ve been around for over 150 years. This also means that Tilley Soaps Australia is the oldest 100% Australian owned soap manufacturer. I honestly found this absolutely incredible, and I can’t help but feel awed at the fact that I get to work with them in way of reviewing their products. The current owners have owned Tilley Soaps Australia since 1997, and have worked hard to expand their product range – and let me tell you, they do have an amazing product range. From soaps, to bath bombs, to candles, to bath & body products… each product comes in a remarkable variety of scents, some that I haven’t seen anywhere else. Example? They have a toasted marshmallow scent. Toasted. Marshmallow. Not only can you get this as a soap, but you can get it as a soy candle, a reed diffuser, a moisturising lotion, a hand & body wash, and a body lotion… and I’m suddenly not sure if I’ve ever wanted to smell like anything more in my life.
Some other scents that caught my fancy were: melon & dewberry, strawberry & oatmeal, basil & mint, golden delicious (yes, as in the apple – yum!), milk & honey (which has always been one of my favourite bath product scents), fragrant sweet pea, kiwi fruit & tangerine (tangerine is another one of my all time favourite scents!), and crisp watermelon. But there are a lot more choices, as you can see on their website – these are just the ones that I’m dying to try myself!
Now, time for what was included in the package; I know you can already see it in the pictures, but I’m still so, so excited to talk about this with you!
TASMANIAN LAVENDER HAND & BODY LOTION
Firstly, a hand & body lotion in the scent Tasmanian Lavender. This smells divine – I find it particularly appealing because it gives me a pleasant sense of nostalgia, due to growing up in a house that had a ridiculous amount of lavender plants both in the back and front yard. I’m such a sentimental person that I really enjoy having things or scents that can take me back to a certain time, or make me feel a certain way, and the Tasmanian Lavender scent definitely does that for me.
The product itself is very, very nice. The lotion goes on smoothly, and absorbs almost immediately, with no leftover residue or stickiness. It’s definitely one of the nicest lotions I’ve ever used – if not the nicest. I’ve only used it on my hands and arms so far, but it has made them soft and silky smooth. I notice it in particular with my palms, which is nice as I often find my hands can be quite dry. This lotion has even made my elbows soft – a feat I thought impossible, as they are usually dry and like sandpaper to touch! I’m honestly very impressed and incredibly happy with the product.
Last but not least, the packaging is absolutely gorgeous. I love the classic, crisp white of the bottle, as well as the minimal writing (and as a font connoisseur, I must say that I love this one.) It makes me feel like I’m using something luxurious, but without spending half of my monthly salary on it. This 400ml bottle is only $11.95, regardless of scent – which absolutely blew my mind when I looked it up. I was honestly expecting, just from the quality of the product and with no reflection on the company itself, that this would be up at the $30 mark at the very least.
PINK GRAPEFRUIT SOY CANDLE
I was also sent a gorgeous pink grapefruit soy candle. You all know by now that I have an extreme, albeit slightly unhealthy obsession with candles. One of my ambitions is to one day collaborate with a company to design my own scented candle – that would be an absolute dream. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was to receive this!
Again, the packaging is beautiful; just look at how cute that box is! Not to mention, the candle itself is a steal at $19.95 (for a 240 gram candle with a burn time of 45 hours.) It smells incredible: fruity and sweet, yet a little tart. I absolutely love it because it’s not sickly sweet like some fruity candles can be, and it has a lovely, fresh aroma. It’s definitely a candle you could leave burning for hours without feeling overwhelmed by the scent.
Though it’s been a bit too hot in Australia to even think about taking a bath this past week, these bath bombs are all extremely fragrant, and I’m able to smell them through the packaging. In fact, the day I received the parcel (and it was unopened at this point) my mum walked into my room and mentioned how lovely it smelt! Each bath bomb is $4.95, which is definitely on the cheaper side of what I’ve seen bath bombs go for – and most aren’t quite as fragrant as these!
The Violet Fields bath bomb has such a lovely floral scent – I know that all of these scents are floral, but hear me out: closing your eyes and smelling this bath bomb just gives you the overwhelming sense of being in a beautiful, peaceful garden, and I can’t imagine anything more relaxing to have for a bath.
This is my favourite out of the bath bombs, because I adore the scent of cherry blossoms – my all time favourite floral scent. It’s sweet and almost sugary, for me it smells like floral combined with lollies… which is absolutely delightful.
Now of course, this Tasmanian Lavender bath bomb is the same scent as the hand & body lotion I received, so you already know I love it. However, I think that this is the perfect scent for a bath bomb – especially if you use it in a bath right before you go to sleep, as of course lavender is a natural remedy to help aid sleep.
This is another sweet, floral scent, though less “sugary” than the cherry blossom. This is definitely a safe scent to choose for any girl you may be buying for, as it’s feminine and so, so lovely.
That’s it for now – I’m sad that it’s over, I had such an amazing time reviewing these products, taking the pictures, and writing the post. I think it’s because I know these are products that you would all love, and they’re so affordable! I’m excited to be able to share such a great find with you.
I would also like to thank the team at Tilley Soaps Australia (Jo in particular!) for their incredible generosity – I really appreciate it, and I love all of the products. If you want to check out Tilley Soaps Australia (and I highly recommend that you do), you can do so on any of the links below:
As a side note, if you’re not from Australia but interested in these products, Tilley Soaps Australia do ship internationally! You just have to email them so they can calculate the freight costs.
Have a browse of their site, and let me know which scent you think would be your favourite! I’m dying to know – I think that (excluding what I received) mine would be the toasted marshmallow… it just sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?!
