Picnic Themes

Waking up and having to go to work when it’s 9 degrees Celsius outside really gives me a craving for Summer – or I’d even settle for Spring. And what’s something fun to do when the weather is nice?

Picnics.

I know it’s extremely premature of me, considering Winter starts in 2 days, but I thought it would be fun to start planning for a cute, outdoor picnic for my friends and I.

The only problem is, I’m ridiculously indecisive. And I like to stick to a theme. This is where I need your help – I put together a few collages of the different styles I was considering, and I want you to tell me which one you like the best!

Feel free to leave suggestions for any other types of themes, too :) Or show me pictures of picnics you’ve thrown!

Once decided on the theme, I’ll keep you updated along the way – hauls, ideas, recipes, etc! It won’t happen for a while, but at least that gives me enough time to make it the most awesome picnic ever.

Brights

When I think of a picnic, I immediately imagine bright, fun colours. This is the first theme that came to mind – and how cute is that pink floral bowl? I imagine coloured blankets, bright pillows all over the place, and all the food in cute bowls like the ones shown.

Pastels

For this theme, I kept ‘high tea’ in mind – soft, pastel colours and whites. Imagine white lace curtains and fairy lights hanging down from a tree with sandwiches cut in triangles and cupcakes spread out everywhere. I think this theme would be perfect for a late afternoon/dusk picnic, rather than for lunch.

Nature

This theme only came to me as I was browing Modcloth, looking for items for the other two themes. I saw those green leaf plates and fell in love with the idea of having a picnic among the trees while sticking to a nature theme. Once again, I can’t help but picture this setting later in the day/night with fairy lights and tealight candles all over the place.

Which theme is your favourite? What other themes should I consider?

I NEED to do a picnic! I think my favorite is the nature theme but, like you said, they are all literally so cute and I can’t decided! But for a new theme idea I found like you know the classic picnic: with the criss-cross red and white blanket, etc. Sorry if I make your choice more difficult! ;)
