NOVOTEL ST KILDA
MY HOTEL MUST HAVES
OUR ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND
Back in October last year John and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary at Novotel St Kilda. We honestly had such an incredible time, and were amazed at how Novotel went above and beyond for us to help us celebrate our anniversary. Having been in a long distance relationship for the majority of our 2 years together, it’s not often that we get to celebrate holidays and special occasions together – which made this weekend all the more special!
I wasn’t really sure where to book our anniversary weekend for. I wanted somewhere pretty (of course), but also with a homey feel. I had considered an Airbnb, which is always our go-to when we visit each other across the world and want to stay in new places, but decided a hotel might be a bit more fun for just two nights. Hello, room service!
St Kilda is definitely one of my favourite suburbs in Melbourne. It’s truly beautiful – nice beach, palm trees everywhere, and the famous Acland Street is full of amazing shops, cafes, and live music venues. The vibe there is just incredible. So, after looking into the Novotel St Kilda, I decided to book there, something I definitely did not regret.
WHAT I WORE
From the second we arrived the staff were polite and so friendly. I’m a person who can be quite shy at times with new people but I felt at ease right away. From the front desk to the room service to the housekeeping, everyone was lovely to deal with and made our time even more enjoyable than it already was.
We headed up to our room – I had booked a standard room with a bay view – and got a delightful surprise. We had been upgraded to a one bedroom penthouse, and it was absolutely gorgeous. And, as a bonus, across the street was an Oktoberfest festival being set up, so we had the view of a Ferris wheel and other rides, which complimented the scenery perfectly.
My favourite part about our stay here: the towel origami. I’ve never stayed anywhere where they had this, and it honestly made my day seeing so many in one room! Can you imagine having this as a talent?! My favourite was the cute little elephant – I actually wish I was allowed to keep him! (Even if we were, I accidentally knocked it over with my pillow during the night… oops.)
After taking all the pictures that my heart desired, there was a knock on the door. A champagne bucket and chocolates were delivered, with a card wishing us a happy anniversary. It was so sweet and made John and I feel so special, again reiterating the happiness I felt at choosing Novotel over an Airbnb.
We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring St Kilda – afterwards, we returned to our lovely room and drank beers in the spa bath while watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air until we went to bed (which happened to be the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in), which was just the most perfect way to end the day.
(As a side note, those chocolates were amazing.)
The room service was another incredible aspect of our stay at Novotel St Kilda. We only had it for breakfast, because we were always out and about during the day and at dinner time, but hey – it’s my favourite meal of the day, and I was not disappointed.
Though I love to cook, and also love breakfast, I haven’t mastered the art of making french toast that isn’t either soggy or burnt. So of course, when I saw it on the menu (served with berries and maple syrup!), I had to choose it – and it was amazing! John chose the Eggs Benedict, which I didn’t try but he said it was delicious.

We can’t wait to come back!
All in all, I can’t recommend Novotel St Kilda enough. We honestly had the most amazing time, and I need to thank everyone there so much for making our anniversary as special as it was.
