HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF A SICK DAY
Nobody enjoys being unwell, right? I definitely don’t, but I try and make the most out of it when it happens. I’ve been off work sick for the past 2 days, and it’s so boring. Don’t get me wrong; I enjoy being at home, and I often sit around doing nothing of importance (ha!). I think the difference is, when you’re sick, you know it’s all you can do. It’s like how kids only want a toy once somebody else has it… well, sort of.
So, how do you spend your sick days? I thought I’d throw together a little post and share with you how I spend mine! Now, just to make it clear – I understand sick days should be devoted to resting & getting better. I’m not talking about working on my blog or other fun activities while I’m on my death bed or anything – it’s more like, the you-can’t-stop-coughing-and-your-workmates-are-sick-of-hearing-you-sniffle-and-they-send-you-home-so-they-don’t-get-sick-either kind of illness. I’m lucky enough to work for a company who want you to rest and get better when you’re unwell, rather than staying at work and subjecting everybody else to it.
Firstly, if I’m feeling well enough, I love to work on my blog (it’s my #1 favourite past time.) Whether that means writing drafts, planning future posts, responding to comments, etc. I find it relaxing, and takes my mind off how miserable I’m feeling, which is always a plus.

The most obvious step is to sleep. Your body needs it, and you will feel so much better for it. I love to get in a pair of cosy pyjamas, spray my pillow with a nice sleep spray, and snuggle down in my warmest + softest blankets.
I also like to take the time to pamper myself a little. You may not feel like it (it involves getting out of bed! ugh!) but you will feel so much better for it. Take a nice, hot bath using your favourite bath bomb, and pop up on a lush moisturiser or a face mask once you get out.
One of the most important things to do when you’re sick is replenish liquids! I like to keep a bottle of water on me at all times, and I drink a lot throughout the day. Also, get that vitamin C! Beg your boyfriend, mum, cat, whoever, to go out & buy you a nice big carton of OJ if you don’t already have some. It’s my absolute favourite kind of juice, and also has been shown to help as an antioxidant. Make sure you read the label carefully and get a natural one – without all that added sugar and preservatives! (Or, you could always make your own OJ at home! Yum!)
Another liquid I can’t go without when I’m sick is hot tea. Green tea with lemon is my go-to, and I like to add a teaspoon or two of honey as a sweetener, and also to soothe my sore throat. These teas can work to open & calm your sinuses, and also act as a decongestant. Perfect!
I also love to watch hilarious tv shows to cheer myself up, browse pinterest, read one of my fav chick lits, and play on my Nintendo DS. What do you do on your sick days?
