DRURY INN & SUITES FRANKENMUTH
THE LOVELIEST HOTEL
Have you ever booked a place for just one night, then walked into your room and thought “No… one night just won’t do.”
John and I booked a night at the Drury Inn and Suites Frankenmuth for our road trip to Michigan. We were planning on driving up, staying the night, exploring and then leaving later that day. (Pretty silly of us, actually, considering the drive there from Toronto was about 4 hours!) However, after walking into our warm, cosy room, we instantly changed our minds, and headed back to the front desk to book another night.
We got the deluxe queen room, which came with two queen beds – we obviously didn’t need two beds, but it was nice to have the extra space! (I also appreciated the extra bed just so I could make jokes about finally being able to sleep alone and not have the blankets stolen, much to J’s sadness.) I did consider pushing the beds together and making one giant blanket fort bed, but I didn’t like my chances at being able to move them. I mean, look at those bed heads.
The room also comes with a mini fridge & a microwave. I do believe a fridge is a necessity in any hotel room, and the microwave was a nice addition that you don’t usually get. There was also a TV, an iron & ironing board (which we didn’t touch), a hairdryer, and a coffee machine (which we touched multiple times.) The hotel also offers free parking, free Wi-Fi, as well as free local and long distance calls! Drury Inn and Suites really go out of their way to offer all the home comforts people are used to.
The bathroom also came stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap and body wash – which was a nice coincidence, because I had forgotten to bring mine!
Another great aspect of Drury Inn and Suites Frankenmuth was their food buffets! They had a hot breakfast every day, including make-your-own belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, bagels, sausages, oatmeal, fresh fruit, biscuits & gravy, muffins, donuts, etc. John and I tried a few different things, and it was all delicious! Especially the waffles – they are to die for… Admittedly, I didn’t actually know how the waffle maker worked, and a young boy standing nearby took over after seeing me struggling – thanks, kid!
They also had an evening “kick back” from 5:30pm onwards. A couple of the menu items are on rotation (such as a different salad and soup every day), but they also offered some delicious choices consistently: hot dogs (my personal fav), baked potatoes, nachos, etc.
Drury Inn and Suites Frankenmuth also gave us (and every other guest over 21) free drink cards! This entitled us to 3 free drinks each a day at the kick back, and there were quite a lot of choices. I chose tequila sunrise every time (hey, it’s delicious) but there was also beers, wines, martinis, margaritas – you name it! The bartender was also really great – he let me try some of the bloody mary mix to see if I liked it, after John asked me if I did and I said I had never had one before. Surprisingly, I didn’t hate it! (I say surprisingly because I hate tomato juice – eugh!)
John & I honestly had the best time staying at Drury Inn and Suites Frankenmuth, thanks to the lovely staff, the cosy rooms, and all of the amenities that helped make the hotel feel like home. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you decide to visit Frankenmuth – which I would also recommend, because it is gorgeous.
